Relax at Home With a Soothing Hot Tub for Your Next Spa Day

If you’ve got the space and the money to spare, having a hot tub can be a life-changing experience. While it may seem like nothing more than your average home luxury, hot tubs can be a great place to relax, unwind and reflect. You can also socialize and bond with other people in the hot tub, making it a solid addition to any home if you can find regular enough use for it. And, considering you may already fancy the idea, there’s a good chance you will.
Owning a hot tub isn’t as easy as you may think, however, and you’ll need to do a bit of maintenance if you want your hot tub to run smoothly all the time. Here’s everything you need to know about owning a hot tub.
WHAT DO I NEED TO OWN A HOT TUB?
The budget
Hot tubs aren’t cheap — in fact, they’re quite expensive. Hot tubs in the U.S. can easily cost you thousands of dollars, depending on how large the hot tub is as well as any extra features you may want in your hot tub. This means that your budget can vary by thousands of dollars, making it difficult to really set a concrete spending amount.
To make things easier, you can set a maximum budget before window shopping. Alternatively, you can also use a checklist to find hot tubs that meet the bare minimum of criteria and work from there. Just remember that hot tubs are a huge financial investment, so be prepared to spend quite a bit of money.
The space
Hot tubs do take up quite a bit of space, albeit not as much as the average pool. Hot tubs are small enough that you could technically fit them in your garage, but many prefer to simply install the tub in their backyard instead. You could also place the hot tub inside one of your rooms indoors, but that would require a lot of effort and possibly extra expense to get the hot tub in, so unless you do have the budget for it, you’re better off placing it outside.
Keep in mind that, while not in use, debris and dirt can wander into the hot tub. Fortunately, you can easily prevent this from happening by using a cover over the top of the hot tub. Still, it requires a bit of work, which brings us to our final point.
The maintenance
So, you’ve got a hot tub. What now? Well, you can start filling it with water, and once you’re done with that, you can enjoy using the tub. But what then? After every use, you’ll need to do a few things to ensure that the hot tub stays in good condition. You’ll need to clean both the interior and exterior of the hot tub, making sure to prevent any sort of moss growth nearby.
Aside from this, you’ll also want to check on your hot tub’s filter to see if it’s still in good condition. If it isn’t, remember to buy a hot tub filter replacement cartridge as needed. The filter is important as it’s what keeps your hot tub water clean.
While owning a hot tub can be quite a hassle at times, the enjoyment that you can get out of it is well worth the effort.
